Patriot Families,
What a great start to the school year! Our students have brought a lot of energy back into HCHS, and it has been great seeing our classrooms, hallways, athletic fields, and activities full again. We are excited about the year ahead and appreciate the support you continue to give our students and our school. There is a lot to be proud of already, and we are just getting started!
Picture Day
Underclassmen (grades 9-11) will have school pictures this Friday, August 28. Pictures will be taken during the school day.
Jostens – Juniors & Seniors
September 15 – Seniors will meet with Jostens during 3rd period to receive information about caps and gowns, graduation announcements, senior class jewelry, and other graduation products. Students will receive ordering information to take home.
September 16 – Juniors will meet with Jostens during 3rd period to receive information about class rings, available options, and how to place an order. Students will receive ordering information to take home.
September 24 – Jostens will return during lunch periods to take senior graduation orders and junior class ring orders. Families will also receive information from Jostens regarding online ordering.
ACT
The Class of 2027 ACT retake will be October 28. Please see the School Counseling Newsletter sent today for additional information about upcoming ACT preparation workshops and dates through UT Martin. I have also attached an ACT Information Sheet for Parents.
PSAT Opportunity for Sophomores & Juniors
During their junior year, students have the opportunity to qualify as a National Merit Scholar by taking the Preliminary SAT (PSAT). Sophomores can also take the PSAT during tenth grade as a practice test.
Juniors and sophomores have the opportunity to take the PSAT at HCHS on Wednesday, October 7. Registration is open now through September 30, and space is limited to 25 juniors and 15 sophomores.
To reserve a spot, students should visit Ms. Melissa King, HCHS Registrar, to pay the $15 testing fee. Payments are accepted in cash (exact change only), by check made payable to HCHS, or online with a QR code located in Ms. King's office.
College & Career Fair
The HCHS College & Career Fair will be September 24 beginning at 9:00 AM. Students in 11th and 12th grades will participate. Additional information will be shared directly with students through Google Classroom.
Grades & Attendance
The first grading period ends September 3, and progress reports will be sent home September 11. Parents and guardians are encouraged to regularly check ParentVUE to monitor grades and attendance.
Regular attendance is an important part of student success. Please help us by making sure students are at school and on time each day. When an absence is necessary, please make sure appropriate documentation is submitted to the school.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be Monday, September 21, from 1:00-7:00 PM. There will be no school for students that day.
Athletics & Red Swarm
Fall athletics are in full swing! Our complete athletics and activities calendar can be found on the HCHS website.
Red Swarm passes are available for $50. The pass admits students to any and all regular-season HCHS sporting events, regardless of the sport, for the 2026-27 school year. Passes can be purchased from Ms. Allison Evans at HCHS.
