HCHS Parents and Stakeholders,
I hope your family has enjoyed having some extra time together over the last two weeks...This has definitely been an unusual weather event, and we will be excited to see our Patriots when we return to school! I wanted to take a few minutes and share some information with you today...
Yearbook
We are nearing our yearbook order deadline (end of February)! Please keep in mind that we do not order extras, so you will want to place an order soon if you would like one for this year. The price is currently $57 and can be purchased through the website at www.ybpay.lifetouch.com (code: 13944026). If you would prefer to order through a check or cash, you may do so when we return to school.
Senior Parents!
**Our Yearbook Staff is seeking the following pictures...Senior Then & Now, Senior Baby Pictures, Senior Pets, and Senior Plans. Additionally, Senior Yearbook ads are on sale. Please see the attached graphics for more information.
**Google Classroom...I would encourage you to have your student pull up the Class of 2026 Google Classroom page on a regular basis and share with you. It's a super busy time of year, and much information is shared with them there.
**FAFSA...If you've not yet completed, please do!
**If you need ANY help with planning for post-secondary (including FAFSA help), please reach out to Mr. John Norwood at norwoodj@henryk12.net. He'll be glad to assist and can set meeting times during or after school hours. Students needing an appointment with him may do so through a link on their Google Classroom, and email is also a good way to communicate with him.
**Scholarship Applications...It's the time of year we have many scholarships rolling in! Please keep an eye on the school website, in the counseling office, and on the Google Classroom page for scholarship opportunities!
**Many times, parents with students of all grades will ask about the ACT. We created a helpful parent information page several years ago and have updated it recently. Please see attached.
**Our Juniors will be taking the state ACT on March 11th. We are looking to host an ACT Boot Camp prior to that time, which will be held during the school day by a company we have had much success with. Once the dates are finalized, a sign up will be posted for students on the Class of 2027 Google Classroom page. There will be a limit on how many students can participate, so if you know you would like your student to participate in the Boot Camp, please email me, and I will make sure they are on the list.
ACT Prep Opportunities available through UTM...
ACT Prep Accelerator Workshop
Description: These ACT prep courses have been tailored to help students with the NEW test format. These classes are offered in person on the UT Martin campus or online via ZOOM.
For most high school students, the ACT will be the most important exam they ever take. A great score unlocks countless scholarships and other opportunities. With the new, shorter format to the exam, though, some students need help in better managing their timing and how to answer key questions. This award-winning workshop will unlock your student's potential and give them a better understanding of how to improve their performance on the ACT.
