Frequently Asked Questions for Friday...The First Day of School
Question: Where do I report on Friday morning?
Answer: ALL students (including DE and WBL students) are to report to Advisory on Friday morning by 8:10 am. Returning 11th and 12th grade students will report to their last year's advisory teacher. Some of these may have changed or a classroom location may have changed. Students can visit their Class of 202? Google Classroom page beginning Thursday evening to view the Advisory list.
Question: I am scheduled for Dual Enrollment (DE) TCAT classes. Where do I go on Friday?
Answer: During the period you are scheduled for TCAT, you will report to the HCHS Theater on Friday. More information will be given about the TCAT start date, procedures for TCAT, etc. on Friday. Note: TCAT Cosmetology and TCAT Welding students meet on the HCHS campus and will report to their teacher here rather than the Theater.
Question: I am scheduled for Dual Enrollment Dyersburg State (DE DSCC) classes. Where do I go on Friday?
Answer: During the period you are scheduled for DSCC, you will report to the HCHS Theater on Friday. More information will be given about the DSCC start date, procedures for DSCC, etc. on Friday.
Question: I am scheduled for Work-Based Learning (WBL). Where do I go on Friday?
Answer: During the period you are scheduled for WBL, you will report to the Socratic Room (Room 42). More information will be given about the WBL paperwork, procedures, etc. on Friday.
Question: I noticed on the schedule that lunch is listed as Period 7. Does that mean lunch is at the end of the day?
Answer: No. Lunch for 9th graders will be during Period 3. Lunch for 10th-12th graders will be during Period 4, and 10th-12th grade students will be assigned a specific lunch time based on their Period 4 teacher. Lunch showing on the schedule as Period 7 is a placeholder.
Question: I have purchased my parking pass and someone parks in my spot Friday morning. What do I do?
Answer: We will not begin fully parking in assigned spots until all students have had a chance to purchase passes. Please do attempt to park in the parking spot you have been assigned to. In the event someone parks in your assigned spot, you may notify an adult on parking lot duty and they will give you directions on what to do.
Question: How will traffic flow in the parking lot?
Answer: See attached graphics for arrival and dismissal procedures. These are new. Please familiarize yourself and follow these procedures beginning Friday. Thank you in advance for your patience as we all learn new procedures.
Question: What school supplies do I need to bring?
Answer: Paper and pencil will be great for the first week or so of school. Teachers will provide more information during the first few days of school of needed supplies.
Question: Will breakfast and lunch be served?
Answer: Breakfast will be served on Friday. Lunch will not be served on Friday. Beginning next week, both breakfast, second chance breakfast, and lunch will be served daily. We are thankful this year to once again provide one breakfast and one lunch at no charge to all students.
Question: What time does school begin and end on Friday (the abbreviated day)? On normal (full) days?
Answer: School hours on Friday (abbreviated day) will be 8:10 am-11:30 am. School hours on normal (full) days will be 8:10 am - 3:15 pm.
Seniors on Friday...Senior Sunrise
The Class of 2026 Student Ambassadors have scheduled Senior Sunrise on Friday, August 1st, at 6am at Patriot Stadium. This event is open to all seniors. Breakfast will be provided by the Henry County Prevention Coalition. Students are encouraged to bring a blanket to sit on, wear a senior shirt if they have one, and come enjoy the Class of 2026's last first day of school together!
Please feel free to let us know of any questions. We are excited to begin working with your students for the 2025-26 school year!
