As we are nearing the beginning of the school year, I wanted to send some

information your way...

Notes regarding schedule pick-up:
**Online Registration must be completed by a parent/guardian in order for a student to pick up their schedule early. (See below)
**All debts owed to the school system must be paid for a student to pick up their schedule early.
**Schedules will not be given out early.
**Schedules will not be available on dates other than what is listed above.
**Students who are not able to pick up their schedules on the assigned day can come to the next pick-up day.
**Any schedules not picked up on July 24th or 28th can be picked up during Open House on July 31st.

**Schedules not picked up on the above mentioned dates will be available on the first day of school, August 1st.
**Schedules will be activated on Student and Parent Vue by the first day of school.
**The HCHS master schedule is made based on the thousands of requests received.

To make changes at this point typically can only be done for human mistakes (which we do make at times!) or extenuating circumstances.

Parking Passes:

New this year, students who drive will receive a numbered parking pass that matches the corresponding numbered parking space. During Schedule Pick-Up, students may complete a parking pass application, show their driver's license and proof of insurance, pay their $10, and request their desired parking spot number they prefer. During schedule pick-up, parking applications will be available. I've linked the application to this email if you prefer to print ahead of time to complete. Parking spot numbers are not automatically guaranteed (first come, first serve). Parking passes will be issued a week or so into school in order to reduce confusion in the parking lot until most parking applications have been secured.

REMINDERS from the previous parent memo)...

Online Registration:

Online Registration began July 1st. THANK YOU to the many of you who have completed yours! Instead of a large pack of back-to-school paperwork to complete in August, Henry County Schools changed to an online registration process several years back. This is NOT the same as course selection. Instead, it is the process to update/confirm all information associated with your student and to electronically "sign" the normal back-to-school requirements. This process will take approximately 15-30 minutes.

**Before beginning, you must have a Parent Vue account. Most of you already have an account. If your child has ever attended a school in the Henry County School System (even as far back as kindergarten!), you will need to use your original Parent Vue account. For any questions, please phone Mrs. Disney in our Main Office at 642-5232 or email HCHS Registrar, Melissa King at kingm@henryk12.net. Either of these ladies will be glad to assist with your account.

Note: From personal experience of some of our employee parents, it seems to be best to complete online registration from a desktop/laptop. If you use your phone, you are unable to see the full documents to check off on and therefore unable to complete the process. If you need access to use a laptop, you are welcome to come during our office hours and we'll be glad to provide a place for you.

Note: If you have an active ParentVue account, your easiest path is to go directly to your account (https://sis-psvue1.tnk12.gov/

HCS/PXP2_OEN_Login.aspx?

Logout=1) and complete online registration there. If you don't have this set up, you will need to follow the steps below.

Note: When the time arrives for Early Schedule Pick-Up, Online Registration must be completed. Taking care of it now will put you a step ahead!

To complete the online registration process, parents/guardians will need to follow these steps:

1. Go to the district website at henryk12.net.
2. Go to the “students and families” tab to see the drop-down menu.
3. Click on the “online registration” heading.
Once you are on the online registration page, you will have three options for registering your student. The options are current student or returning student, and new to the district student. “Current or returning student” is a student who has ever attended a school in the Henry County School System (even as far back as kindergarten!). That will be most of you.

More information, including directions, tutorials, and links can be found on our district website using the following link:
https://www.henryk12.net/page/onlineregistration

Our office is open daily 8:00-3:00 Mondays through Thursdays and 8:00-1:00 Fridays. We will be glad to assist in any way.

National Honor Society v The National Society of High School Scholars:

I included the following information as we see mailings happening sometimes during the summer.

Over the years, we've had a few folks ask about something they have received in the mail from the National Society of High

School Scholars, and I thought it might be helpful to provide a few notes. This is not the HCHS chapter of the National Honor Society and is not something from or recognized by HCHS. I've had other principals make mention of this in a principal group I am in, and from what I can tell, addresses and names are likely accessed through ACT/AP/PSAT testing. There is a way to opt out when registering for those exams/programs, but sometimes it is easy to miss. Please note that academic regalia from this group is not approved at HCHS graduation and paying the fee for the recognition is not to a student's benefit that I am aware of.

2024-25 Yearbooks...

We currently have extra yearbooks for sale from the 2024-25 school year. This is unusual due to a mix up on our part, as we usually only order the number ordered. If you missed getting a yearbook and would like one, please contact our office at 642-5232 or visit during summer office hours.

Parent Communication...

Parent email information:

Class of 2028 Parents and Stakeholders...Welcome to the HCHS Parent email group! You will receive parent emails from me throughout the school year and once a month from our School Counseling Department. We want to keep you in-the-know as much as possible! If you have multiple children at HCHS and they are in different grade levels, please make sure you are on each associated parent email list, as some things are only sent to one group rather than all three. If at any time you stop receiving emails, likely something is wrong, so let us know. Also, as a note, all emails are put on our school website for reference as needed.

Spread the word!

Please make sure your friends are receiving the parent emails. Each year, I am always surprised that at least a few senior parents remark that they have never gotten the emails. Important information is communicated through the emails, so we'd LOVE to have EVERYone receive them. Please make sure your friends and acquaintances know about them. Anyone who needs to be added to the parent email list should email their information to HCHS Registrar Ms. Melissa King at kingm@henryk12.net. Please include: child's name, parent name, email address (can be multiple ones if needed), and Class of 20__ (year of graduation).

Social Media Updates...

HCHS has a very active Facebook page, and our Student Ambassadors maintain Facebook and Instagram pages. We post often on Facebook with campus happenings, and we'd love to have you follow us if you aren't already! Feel free to also let out-of-town family members know! Our Facebook info: Henry County High School - Paris, Tennessee.

Other dates to know...

August 1st: First Day for students! (abbreviated)

August 4th: First FULL Day for students!

Please feel free to let us know of any questions. Enjoy the rest of your summer...and try to stay cool in this heat!

Go Big Red!
