Good evening, parents of HCHS students!
As we near Early Schedule Pick-Up days, I wanted to send a reminder about Online Registration, which is required prior to a student receiving their schedule. I've copied the recent parent email from 7/15 below. Please let us know of any questions or if we can help in any way. We hope to see you at next Tuesday's (7/30) Open House!
Email from 7/15...
HCHS Parents and Stakeholders,
We hope you are having a wonderful summer! This email is going to the parent email lists for rising HCHS juniors and seniors. I will send a separate email to the rising sophomore parents, but please feel free to share this information with anyone who will need it.
As a few reminders...
Parent email information:
You will receive parent emails from me throughout the school year and once a month from our School Counseling Department. We want to keep you in-the-know as much as possible! If you have multiple children at HCHS and they are in different grade levels, please make sure you are on each associated parent email list, as some things are only sent to one group rather than all three. If at any time you stop receiving emails, likely something is wrong, so let us know. Also, as a note, all emails are put on our school website for reference as needed.
Spread the word!
Please make sure your friends are receiving the parent emails. Each year, I am always surprised that at least a few senior parents remark that they have never gotten the emails. Important information is communicated through the emails, so we'd LOVE to have EVERYone receive them. Please make sure your friends and acquaintances know about them. Anyone who needs to be added to the parent email list should email their information to HCHS Registrar Ms. Melissa King at kingm@henryk12.net. Please include: child's name, parent name, email address (can be multiple ones if needed), and Class of 20__ (year of graduation).
Social Media Updates...
HCHS has a very active Facebook page, and our Student Ambassadors maintain Facebook and Instagram pages. We post often on Facebook with campus happenings, and we'd love to have you follow us if you aren't already! Feel free to also let out-of-town family members know! NEW INFORMATION...
Early Schedule Release Dates:
IMPORTANT NOTE: For students who wish to pick up their schedules prior to the first day of school, a parent/guardian must first complete Online Registration (see information below).
Senior EarlySchedule Pick-Up Day: Thursday, July 25th from 9 am - 12 noon
Junior Early Schedule Pick-Up Day: Friday, July 26th from 9am - 12 noon
Sophomore Early Schedule Pick-Up Day: Monday, July 29th from 9am - 12 noon
Location:
Please enter at the E Building entrance, across from the red football field house. Schedule distribution will be held in E building.
Notes regarding schedule pick-up:
**
Online Registration must be completed by a parent/guardian in order for a student to pick up their schedule early.
(See below)
**All debts owed to the school system must be paid for a student to pick up their schedule early.
**Schedules will not be given out early.
**Schedules will not be available on dates other than what is listed above.
**Students who are not able to pick up their schedules on the assigned day can come to the next pick-up day.
**Any schedules not picked up on July 25th, 26th, or 29th can be picked up during Open House on July 30th.
**Schedules not picked up on the above mentioned dates will be available on the first day of school, August 2nd.
**Schedules will be activated on Student and Parent Vue by the first day of school.
**The HCHS master schedule is made based on the 8,000-10,000 requests received (1,000 students X 8 classes + 2 alternates per student). To make changes at this point typically can only be done for human mistakes (which we do make at times!) or extenuating circumstances.
**Instruction in Piano is now an available offering as part of our Strings program. Students do not need to have a prior knowledge of piano or reading music to take this course. If your child is interested in joining piano, please email me and we'll take a look before schedule pick-up day to see if it might work in their schedule.
Online Registration:
Instead of a large pack of back-to-school paperwork to complete in August, Henry County Schools changed to an online registration process several years back. This is NOT the same as course selection. Instead, it is the process to update/confirm all information associated with your student and to electronically "sign" the normal back-to-school requirements. This process will take approximately 15-30 minutes.
**Before beginning, you must have a Parent Vue account. Most of you already have an account. If your child has ever attended a school in the Henry County School System, you will need to use your original Parent Vue account. For any questions, please contact our email HCHS Registrar, Melissa King at kingm@henryk12.net and she'll be glad to set up your account.
Note: From personal experience of some of our employee parents, it seems to be best to complete online registration from a desktop/laptop. If you use your phone, you are unable to see the full documents to check off on and therefore unable to complete the process. If you need access to use a laptop, you are welcome to come during our office hours and we'll be glad to provide a place for you.
Note: If you have an active ParentVue account, your easiest path is to go directly to your account (https://sis-psvue1.tnk12.gov/
HCS/PXP2_OEN_Login.aspx?
Logout=1) and complete online registration there. If you don't have this set up, you will need to follow the steps below.
To complete the online registration process, parents/guardians will need to follow these steps:
1. Go to the district website at henryk12.net.
2. Go to the “students and families” tab to see the drop-down menu.
3. Click on the “online registration” heading.
Once you are on the online registration page, you will have three options for registering your student. The options are current student or returning student, and new to the district student. “Current or returning student” is a student who attended at any Henry County School System school during the 2022-2023 school year. That will be most of you.
More information, including directions, tutorials, and links can be found on our district website using the following link:

Our office is open daily 8:00-3:00 July 15-18 and 8:00-1:00 on July 19. Beginning July 22, office hours will be 8:00-3:00 until school begins. We will be glad to assist in any way.
HCHS Open House:
HCHS will host Open House on Tuesday, July 30th from 5-6:30 pm. During Open House, students and parents are welcome to attend a parent information session, walk the halls, pick up schedules if needed, find classes, meet teachers, and such. Parent Information Sessions will be held in the Theater at 5:15 and 6:00 pm and are open to all. During these sessions (which will be approximately 30 minutes), an overview of important school policies and procedures will be discussed. We hope you'll make plans to join us for Open House!
Class of 2025 Senior Pictures:
Senior pictures for the Class of 2024 will be taken July 22nd, 23rd, and 24th in E building. Is your Senior confirmed for their upcoming session?
If not, head to schedule.prestigeportraits.
com to confirm or reschedule.
Note: In order to have a photograph in the HCHS yearbook, a student must have their picture taken through our photography company.
Some information from the photography company through our yearbook sponsor...
Formal pictures (cap/gown and tux/drape) will be taken first for all students. This ensures that students are looking their best for those photos. You will receive multiple proofs of these shots to choose from when ordering pictures of your child. Please note that the yearbook uses a tux or drape photo with a BLUE background only. For formal photos: it would also be beneficial for young ladies to wear a spaghetti strap tank and young men to wear a white tee shirt.
Additional informal photos are optional for students (for an additional fee) and they must provide their own attire. This year Lifetouch is offering an "outside" option. There will be a separate photographer on site for these photos. The location for photos will be on school grounds, but is undecided at this time. The photographers will direct students to the location at the end of their session. Outside photos will be the last photos taken during your child's session.
If you have any other questions, feel free to send an email to Mrs. Dunn at dunnt@henryk12.net.
Another rising senior note...
**Each fall, a large number of girls typically wear a senior shirt on the first day of school (and several wear them under their gowns on Grad Walk days). You may have seen these on our Facebook posts and such. While these shirts are not a school purchase, this is the time of year they are typically ordered through private vendors so wanted to mention.
National Honor Society v The National Society of High School Scholars:
I included the following information as we see mailings happening sometimes during the summer.
Over the years, we've had a few folks ask about something they have received in the mail from the National Society of High
School Scholars, and I thought it might be helpful to provide a few notes. This is not the HCHS chapter of the National Honor Society and is not something from or recognized by HCHS. I've had other principals make mention of this in a principal group I am in, and from what I can tell, addresses and names are likely accessed through ACT/AP/PSAT testing. There is a way to opt out when registering for those exams/programs, but sometimes it is easy to miss. Please note that academic regalia from this group is not approved at HCHS graduation and paying the fee for the recognition is not to a student's benefit that I am aware of. As a note, we do not share academic information with outside organizations without parent/guardian consent.
Other dates to know...
August 2nd: First Day for students! (abbreviated; dismissal at 11:30 am)
August 5th: First FULL Day for students!
Please feel free to let us know of any questions. Enjoy the rest of your summer...and try to stay cool in this heat!
Go Big Red!
