Good Afternoon, HCHS Parents and Stakeholders! I wanted to send a few quick reminders your way today...
ACT Information...
Deadline tonight!...If you are interested in your child taking the October National ACT Test (which differs from the October 24th State ACT Test that we will give on October 24th to seniors), the deadline to avoid late charges is TONIGHT at 11:59 pm.
When should my child begin taking the ACT?
When a student is taking or has just taken Algebra II is a great time to begin taking the ACT.
How many times should my child take the ACT?
Taking the ACT multiple times (not just on the state testing days at school) is a wise strategy. This allows students the opportunity to make gains over time which may increase their composite score, subscores, and superscore. Additionally, these gains may open other scholarship opportunities for students.
Current ACT Resources outside of school...These are highly encouraged for our seniors as they are preparing for the October 24th State ACT Test...
**UTM is hosting FREE ACT workshops the next 2 Thursday nights....see attached flyer for more information.
**Jane Ross Tutoring is hosting ACT workshops on 2 Saturdays prior to both the October State ACT Test and the National ACT Test...see attached flyer for more information. (This is the company that will lead our Boot Camps in October --see previous parent email from 9/11/23 for more info.)
Have more ACT questions?
Attached you will find our ACT Cheat Sheet...Please feel free to let us know as you have questions...we're here to help!
Parent Teacher Conferences...
This coming Monday, September 25th, will be Parent-Teacher Conference Day for all schools in the Henry County School System. Students will not attend school on Monday. Conferences at HCHS will run from 1-7 pm. We hope to see you here! A few notes...
**Entrance will be in 2 locations: At the front circle under the canopy; At E entrance across from the red football fieldhouse
**The day is come and go, so please come when you can...but, please come!
**Our school counselors will have locations set up at each entrance. If you need your child's schedule or a school map, those will be available. Additionally, if your child had an EOC test last year, a table will be available to pick up their score report.
**We encourage you to bring your student with you! This allows them to share with you their school and also has them available to talk with you and their teachers together.
Again, we hope to see you Monday!
CORRECTION from a previous email regarding Senior Banquet...
Oops! My typing fingers hit a 2 instead of a 1! Senior Banquet is scheduled for Friday, April 19, 2024.
Cafeteria Balances...
We have quite a few students accruing large balances on their cafeteria accounts. Those with balances are being given weekly printouts and then monthly printouts will be mailed. To help, please watch your child's balance through School Cafe and please keep up-to-date.
As always, please feel free to let us know of any questions or concerns.
Go Big Red!
