Economics Syllabus

Credit: ½ (9 week course) required for graduation

Textbook: Tennessee Economics Publisher: Pearson 2020

Course Description: Students will examine the allocation of scarce resources and consider the economic reasoning used by consumers, producers, savers, investors, workers, and voters. Students will explore the concepts of scarcity, supply and demand, market structures, national economic performance, money and the role of financial institutions, economic stabilization, and trade. Finally, students will examine key economic philosophies and economists who have and continue to influence economic decision making.

Grading Policy: Grades will come from quizzes, articles, and other assignments done during class time. You will have homework every night; it will be to read notes, an assigned article, etc… All students will take a Common Assessment #1 (Midterm) that will count twice and a Common Assessment #2 that will count once. Your Final Exam will follow the procedures in the student handbook.

Cheating will not be tolerated; cheating is lying. When you sign your name, you are saying this is your work. Any cheating will result in a zero for the assignment. Please take this seriously and be a person of integrity; let your name represent good character.

Class Procedures:

*Do not line up at the door at the end of the block.

*No bad words from you (or me)

*Be kind and patient with everyone. We don’t know the struggles and situations of others.

*I am responsible for enforcing all rules within the handbook.

* Be a young adult regarding your phone. It is super rude to be on your phone during class;

don’t be rude. All phones will be turned in before any quizzes or tests.

*Communicate with me! If you are struggling, let me know.
