COURSE SUMMARY

Lifetime Wellness is an 18-week course that combines health and physical education components into one subject area. Students will spend time each week discussing health-related topics and engaging in physical activities/sports. Objectives for this course are based upon the Tennessee State Department of Education Standards for Lifetime Wellness. This course is a local dual credit course with Jackson State Community College. All students will take a JSCC final exam. If a student passes the exam and attends JSCC after graduation, he/she will have a college credit for Wellness.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS

Students should dress out daily in tennis shoes and workout clothes. The school dress code will be followed. Students must participate in order to earn a passing grade. A written note from a medical professional/school nurse is the only excuse that will be accepted for not dressing out or participating. An alternate assignment will be given for not dressing out or participating. Students will begin the grading period with 100 participation points. Failure to dress out or participate will result in daily points being deducted from the grade. The PACER test is required for this class and will be conducted each grading period.

CLASSWORK REQUIREMENTS

Students will receive a health grade each grading period. This will include work that shows the students' mastery of the health standards covered during individual work, group work, taking of notes, and Google classroom assignments.

GOOGLE CLASSROOM

In the event a student will miss an extended amount of time due to sickness, trips, etc, he/she may be required to complete assignments on Google Classroom. The codes for each class are listed below. Please enter the code for your class to sign up.

RULES AND PROCEDURES

Students are expected to follow the student handbook while in this class. Rules and procedures regarding safety, locker room behavior, participation behavior, classroom behavior, and electronics will be discussed and should be followed.
